Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Our K-2 classrooms are highly structured to achieve maximum learning for each child. A highly-structured classroom offers more than just high academics and fast-paced learning. It also offers respectful and courteous peer interaction, socialization in multiple environments, and self-discipline for effective time management. We have a well-rounded curriculum that creates a solid foundation for lifelong learning. In addition, all subjects are taught in light of God’s Word to ensure a biblical view of the world.

Our classroom includes learning centers focused on fine motor skills,art, science, math, phonics, and more. iPads are used to enhance our reading, spelling, and math curriculum. Physical education and music are each taught twice a week. Below are more details about our advanced curriculum.

Curriculum

  • Language Arts: We take a phonics-based approach to reading instruction and emphasize creative writing. Students also practice spelling and parts of speech.

  • Math: We use hands-on learning to help students understand numbers, shapes, and patterns. Students solve word problems and simple equations. Measurements, time, money, and multiplication are also introduced.

  • Social Studies: Students learn about our neighborhood and community, holidays, and places in the world.

  • Science: Using experimentation and instruction, students will explore the five senses, animals, seasons, movement, and Earth science.

  • Religion: Students learn stories, passages, prayers, hymns, and the Ten Commandments.


3rd - 6th Grade

Our 3rd-6th grade classrooms have a very advanced curriculum that reaches state standards. Our classrooms do not use Common Core for instruction. Our students are well-rounded in all subject areas, which helps them succeeded in the classroom. Students use Google Chromebooks for research and computer skills. Physical Education is provided twice per week to teach the fundamental skills of basketball, volleyball, soccer, and other sports. Our students can learn music skills such as reading music and singing. Below are more details about our advanced curriculum!

Curriculum

  • Computer: Typing Club, Google Docs, and Google Slides

  • Spanish: numbers 1-100, colors, animals, speaking phrases, and more!

  • Social Studies: Students in 3rd-6th grade will learn about American History, California history, Native Americans, settlers, and ancient civilizations. They will also practice map skills.

  • Science: With a focus on God’s Word, students will learn about animals, plants, weather, the water cycle, geology, health, and astronomy.

  • Math: Students build on their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division knowledge while they explore fractions, money, graphs, and ratios. Students may also begin to learn basic geometry.

  • Language Arts: Students practice reading skills for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Book reports will also be completed. Writing instruction focuses on grammar, conventions, and parts of speech, with an emphasis on writing composition.

  • Religion: Students will read and study stories from the Old and New Testaments. Stories from Luther’s Small Catechism will also be taught for memory work.
